In the last few years, STC has moved beyond its domestic borders into the international markets, forming a network of businesses and investments in a number of GCC countries, Asia and Africa. The company is now present in Kuwait, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, South Africa and Bahrain, enabling STC to serve a greater number of customers internationally.

Challenge:

Saudi Telecom has been facing extensive load on their 3G Cells, as well as indoor coverage issues for 3G data support. STC management has been looking for a cost effective redundant solution to offload 3G traffic and improve coverage for better customer experience and Return on Investment.

Solution:

Offload STC 3G data to Wireless LAN Infrastructure by installing three thousand five hundred Cisco 3700 Series indoor access points, and 1500 Series Outdoor Access Points
Improve the existing core with Cisco UCS, ASR9Ks, Nexus Switches, iWAG, Cisco Prime and Wireless LAN Controllers.

Outcome:

Successful implementation and migration of End-to-End 3G Offload Core.
Successful Indoor & Outdoor RF Design (Site Survey) across multiple locations in Saudi Arabia covering malls, airports, public areas, parks, and streets
